Dear Leah,

I should have written you before but had no great news, as I am going along just ordinary way. I have so far been keeping quite well and hope to continue as I never had any ills like others complain aches or pains, from which I never seem to have. I am very grateful. I stroll up town generally every morning and look around – but see very little of old faces – all young people – and the older ones I don’t know-so keep to myself and I am deaf with  right ear and my left is gradually getting on.  So have to be careful and anyone has to speak up close to me.  I had only been fishing three times left it off end of September. Once there the water has been very low and they were not feeding much – now the leaves are all off shall get a change with floods later expect to make a good clearance.  We have had a wonderful spell of fine since July only two or three wett days  and nights  – this  last week been whitefrosty nights.   I trust you had a fully got over the malaria you had. And no ill effects from same. I often think of back times and of you. The pleasure we had at times –all have been missed by me since parting –  I call often visit to Hardington when I saw you =  you were so bonnie as nice and I was so miserable.  But there is no use harping over it.  I’ve regretted =  but have had to carry on best can =  without any goodness from anyone since –  and your had so altered I thought – Well Well  dont fret –  we both acted foolish in past –  so must repent and do best to live on and put up for the past =  I do hope Leah  you will have a pleasant happy Xmas, and all is well with you =  such Xmas I have never had since –  no alls  trouble –  I trust Gwen  children and hubby all well and send best wishes to you here my very best the best of health times and all from Will  xxxxxx
